I grew up in a beautiful country home in the midst of the Colombian Rainforest. We had countless animals: Chickens, roosters, turtles, cats, dogs, & my favorite... Porqui Pumba! The sweetest pet pig that ever lived :-) Back then, if I wasn't dancing along to Michael Jackson's Thriller video or practicing Chopin on the keys, I was either giving the animals music lessons (yes, music lessons) or running around outside. My brother & I would explore the green countryside for hours on our bikes, digging up strange rocks and playing hide and seek between the trees; The Andes where our playground. With time however, the senseless war desecrating our country brought the tanks rolling up the mountains, the explosions, and the threats which kept us behind closed doors fearing for our lives. On December 11, 1998 we moved to Colorado chasing an American Dream. Twelve years, three art schools, one EP, and countless gigs later I'm living in LA doing what I've always LOVED!!

Denver's hottest aspiring talent, Julie Zorrilla is a heart stopping music phenomena pursuing a career as an international recording/performing artist. A trained musician in numerous genres, her ability to combine stylistic diversity with boundless creativity is the key ingredient to originality. Pianist, singer, songwriter, and guitarist, Julie's love for music was sparked at age four, beginning her classical piano studies. Shortly after her 8th birthday, the violence ravaging Colombia forced her & her family to seek refuge in the United States, where she continued to cultivate her passion for the arts. After several years in the Piano department at Denver School of the Arts, Julie spent a year training as an Opera singer at Idyllwild Arts Academy in order to improve her vocal performance & technique. At 15 she returned to DSA as a Vocal Major & signed a one album deal with an indie label, Mercury Sauce. By the age of 17, she released "About Us," a 5 track EP featuring a magical compilation of original love songs (available on itunes, Rhapsody, CD Baby & more). Julie is currently living in Los Angeles and working towards the release of a second album as well as a career in songwriting. One of her main goals as an artist is to remind her audience that the most valuable aspect of music is the music itself and the message for which it stands. She would like to thank all the people who have helped her along the way and those who continue to give their relentless support. Enjoy!
This is Julie's Bio on Mercury Sauce
Julie is an American originally from Colombia, now living in California. She auditioned for American Idol 2011, and is also a rumored Top 40 contestant on American Idol Season 10. Julie’s Latin, singer-songwriter appeal is evident in her 2008 Mercury Sauce released album, “About Us.” It was evident before auditions had even begun that she was a talented, dedicated musician from the get-go.
Julie Zorrilla – Singer/Songwriter
Julie Zorrilla started musically at age five, when she began studying classical piano. Two years later she wrote her first song, in Spanish. However, not too long after her 8th birthday Julie and her family left Colombia for a better life in America. Despite this transition she maintained her passion for dancing and music. By the time she was 14, Julie began attending Idyllwild Arts Academy and by the time she was 15 she had already written and produced her first demo.
Julie Zorrilla – Idol 2011 (season 10 contestant)
Needless to say, Julie Zorrilla is one of the most classically trained contestants ever to participate in American Idol. She attended the Denver School of the Arts and maintains her dreams of becoming a successful musician. Her passion for music extends far beyond the Latin genre, and her abilities far exceed anyone’s expectations. In the end, Ms. Zorrilla may become the most overlooked contestant, until she takes the stage and you’re never able to forget her.
Julie Zorrilla has a Latin singer, songwriter combination that America needs as the next American Idol!
Julie has been part of the Mercury Sauce family for 5 years and we encourage everyone to support her as she makes her national debut on American Idol.
